PIONEER CEMETERY was established in about 1850 during the height of the Gold Rush. The Cemetery is still active and burial plots are available. Our website contains a lot of information that we hope will be of great assistance to you and your loved ones for planning ahead for end of life issues. About
The historic Kelsey Pioneer Cemetery has been an important part of the communities of Kelsey and southern Garden Valley for 170 years. It includes in its list of denizens many of Marshall's friends, neighbors, and mining partners along with many other folks who came to the area following the gold rush.

Residents and property owners of the Kelsey Cemetery District. To view the District Map, click HERE.

Nonresidents who are family members* of a District resident or property owner

Nonresidents who have family members* and/or ancestors buried in the District Cemetery

Nonresidents who purchased a preneed plot while a resident, and their family members*

Nonresidents with no present or past connection to the District may not be buried here, with a few exceptions. Contact us for other possible nonresident exceptions.
* "Family member" means any spouse, by marriage or otherwise, domestic partner, child or stepchild, by natural birth or adoption, parent, brother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, parent-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephew, niece, aunt, uncle, first cousin, or any person denoted by the prefix “grand” or “great,” or the spouse of any of these persons. Plots Available
There are over 200 plots still available. Only residents and their relatives who live within the cemetery boundaries are eligible. See map on "Cemetery Info & Arrangements" page for more information.

The District includes Kelsey, the southern 2/3rds of Garden Park, southern Garden Valley, Spanish
